Eid Pe Bhai Behen Ka Pyaar

I didn't intend to write a separate post for Eid, because our eid is a pretty simple affair... with the family (part of it) being together.

This year it was no different ... but Bhaijaan (Zefan) and Z being together made all the difference. These pictures talk for themself.

Don't they look just Adorable together?

A Daughter Will Always be a 'Daughter'

I have been away from my blogs, but I won't disappear... won't worry (if you like what you read)

My mom is here and I'm loving it, I have realized that I will always be a daughter and I love being that. Z is enjoying with her Ammoo (my mom) and I like seeing them together.

I have been waiting for these days and I'm loving it. I'm behaving like a small little girl and I love doing it. My sis will be here soon with my nephew and just looking forward to being together with my family.

'Shuusssss Obsession'

We bought Z these Gum boots from AOMI last week. I thought they won't be used much but then when I laid my eyes on the ones I end up buying, I found them really cute. Besides they were on sale and not very expensive. So I finally thought I'll pick them up.

For the initial 2 days, Z couldn't even walk when she wore them. Now she's become a Pro at wearing Gum boots :). The 1st thing she does post her morning bath and once she's all dressed... Is go to her wardrobe, taking the boots out and running to me with one in each hand saying 'Shuusssss, Shuusssss, Shuusssss'. And I thought only women who grow up are obsessed with footwear. Phhhhheeeeewwww.

Don't miss the mismatch between dress & Shuusssss

The Shouting Monster Me!!!

I hate shouting at Z, I seriously do... but off late I've been shouting at her. Just her name actually, I don't scold her FOR SURE. For me, its not done, my mum is extremely short tempered and I used to hate it when she shouted (though not often) and I don't want Z to feel like that for a second.

Maybe because fasts drain out all energy from your body and by the end of the day, all you do is just sit at one spot if not lie down. Now I hate lazing around unnecessarily but now-a-days can't help it. Though I don't feel hungry... Z on the other hand is a bundle of energy... Whose up to some mischief (actually more than that, exploring some place). So I keep on telling her, requesting her to sit at one place for 5 mins (which, mind you, is too much to ask for). When she doesn't listen I have to shout which I regret the very next second. I pledge I'll try not to shout at you Z. Mumma is sorry...

Toddling Tuesday

First few hours of Z's day are reserved for bonding between Z and Dad. Fizz generally leaves late and comes late at night. During Ramadan, since Fizz has to come home around 5 in the evening to break the fast, he obviously leaves early in the morning. Rozas started on Saturday, it being a weekend ... daddy-dotty spent lots of time together. Today when Z got up, she couldn't see her Pa, so she started searching for him. When she didn't find him after looking for Fizz for a good 10 minutes, she started crying and she kept on saying 'Pa-Pa-Pa'. My heart went out to my poor baby, I hugged her, tried to speak to her but she kept crying for 5-10 minutes.

So it was a sad start to an otherwise nice day for Z and me.

Toddling Tuesday

We are back from our short holiday to Shimoga....The holiday was not great, it was just about OK... but we definitely had a relaxing time there, that is more than worth it.

Z had her first road trip and I must say she behaved very well. We drove around 500-600 kms in 2 days. This incident happened in one of the car rides... but first the backdrop.

Couple of months back, Z hated whenever I used to put any clips or other accessories in her hair. The child is obsessed with her hair. So whenever I successfully put a clip in her hair now I always clap, and after a couple of days, Z now makes sure she claps whenever I put a clip/other hair accessories in her hair...

Now going back the the drive in Shimoga, I was talking about... Z was sleeping in her Pa's lap, she had just slept... I took a strand of her hair and fixed it back with her clip. As soon as I put the clip, Z clapped ... Yes in her sleep... It was hilarious...

That's about us... what about you?

Best Moment of My Day - Toddling Tuesday

I have read a lot of mom-bloggers describe their best moment of the day. I don't know why, but more than 90% of these women consider the best moment of the day being the bed time routine. I cannot imagine that as my best moment, because this is exclusively Fizz’s responsibility. He is the one who makes Z have a bath at night, and make her go to sleep (on most nights). It is only when Z is super active and not in a mood to sleep, that Fizz hands her over to me, Post that I manage to make her sleep within 15-20 minutes… but that is another story, which I’d narrate in another post (if I think it is worth a post).

Right now I have settled on discussing my favorite moment with Z. This half an hour is something I do not give up for anything (expect on weekends, when we have other plans). This moment happens when I take Z out for individual ‘Me’ time on the terrace. Bangalore weather is always (well, most of the time) amazing at that hour, if it isn’t raining, that is. What makes those 30 minutes exceptional? I think it’s the both of us doing what we want to, without anyone clinging on to the other, or without stopping the other person from doing anything. I brisk walk on the terrace swaying my head on some amazing tunes (thanks to my I-Pod)… I do keep an eye on Z, but never (try not to) stop her from doing anything most of the things. Z has a blast, she plays with bricks, does all kind of acrobats, climbs up and down stairs. You can hear her shriek and shout (in excitement), if you are around, and I have a constant smile on my face and a song on my lips.

So, what is your best moment of the day with your little one?

Toddling Tuesday

Z is busy playing with her toys, I see an opportunity... Seeing her busy, I plan to quietly catch up on some reading... It used to be my Favorite pass time. I still love it, hardly get time to do it though.

So I sit back on my diwan and within 2 minutes, I feel someone has kept something on my lap... I hear the sound of 'book, book, book' in the background.... I ignore it, reading makes me go deaf. Then I realize someone is trying to pull away my book and the sound of 'book-book-book' becomes louder. I get irritated (read furious) and keep the book down... Just to see two innocent eyes looking at me ... They are requesting me to read out 'the Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle (her current favorite) for the nth time today. All my ghussa vanishes... I take a deep breath and read 'In the light of the Moon.......'. At least I'm able to read out to Z couple of times a day... What if I take a couple of weeks to finish one damn book I used to finish in a couple of hours earlier. Aaaah!!! Joys of parenthood...Rolls her eyes up!

Toddling Tuesday

Z attracts attention in a jiffy... I don't know if its the age or my baby is Charmer ;-)
Pa took us for a fun 'Father's Day' quick dinner at Pizza Hut Jayanager and we sat on the 1st table near the entrance. There was a bell which hung at Pizza Hut, it was obviously for people to ring the bell when they have a good time. There were more kids (because it was Sunday, and eating joints like Pizza Hut always attract more kids). There were 4-5 kids around us, all were elder to Z. One of the kid rang that bell, and Z started laughing  hysterically. Bas phir kya tha, one after the other these kids rang the bell & Z kept laughing. Not only did the kids love seeing Z laugh, all other people in Pizza Hut were smiling looking at Z. And after a lot of months we had a fun meal, and Z was kept engaged... not by her parents for sure.

Toddling Tuesdays - Family Shopping Spree for Z

Thanks to S from Canvas of my thoughts for suggesting Sapphaire Toys Kormangla, we took Z there for some shopping. She went berserk to say the least. Running around shouting on top of her voice. She played with a 'Chhotu Baby' (as Z calls any baby smaller than her) who was trying a walker. Then she caught hold of toddler slightly older to Z, who'd come with his dad to try a tricycle. She said 'Hi' and the tod was too shy to reply. She touched his nose, hair, eyes and all the tod did was blush. The scene was damn cute.

These are the things we brought:
  • a Doodle. I wanted the Fisher Price one for her, but I'll do that once she turns 2. Right now she manhandles all her toys (except her books).
  • we bought 6 books on colors, sounds, animals, words etc. And she loooooooves em already. Z, Fizz and I especially fancy her 'I love Colors' and 'I love Sounds' books published by Paragon UK.
  • We also bought 2 ball for Z.
  • A battery operated monkey playing drums... Like you must have seen in your childhood or old movies. I didn't want to buy it earlier but seeing Z laugh hysterically, the moment I switched the monkey on, made me buy it.
BTW why does everyone say 'Terrible 2s'? Z already has her sets of tantrums and  has made it clear to Fizz n me that we can't mess with her.

Toddling Tuesdays - Z's 1st time in a Kiddie Play Area

WooooooHoooooooooooooo 100th Post

On Sunday, 3rd of June we visited the Forum Value Mall. We spent a lot of time window shopping, by the time we reached the Food Court both Fizz and I were EXHAUSTED... And so was Z, she had become really cranky.

We were heading to have some dinner, and we saw a Kiddie zone just outside the Food Court. Z didn't understand what the place was all about... but Z and I wanted to take Z inside the moment we saw the place. Z was uncomfortable for a minute or two (because the play area was full of kids who were a little older to Z). Then Z laid her eyes on this area full of colorful balls... and her eyes just popped out. She fell in love with the place.

The result: Fizz and I got all the more tired and just wanted to go and EAT... But Z wasn't in a mood to get out of the play area. Only Fizz knows how he pulled her out and took her to the food court.

Z handing the balls over to Mum

She loved the colors

Toddling Tuesdays

My AJ was the most chilled out dad in the whole wide world. My Ma on the other hand was and still is an 'its either my way or the highway' kinda mum. (I don't have a problem with that,  the 3 of us know how to handle her :-*). Now she's become more of 'emotional jazz' kind of mum, but still she gets things done according to her sweet will... Earlier she was extremely strict. If she said 'no' for anything, we weren't supposed to get a reason for that. If we asked for the reason...  [being the 'brat' - (me), and the 'rebel' - (my younger sis) of the house], we often asked for it... All we got for an answer was "Because I said so...". Now I love my mum... but I don't understand this bit of her parenting style, and ALWAYS (by default) argued with her on the same.

I don't wanna become an 'I said so' parent. I had decided that pretty early on in my life. Whenever I want/think Z should not be doing something, I'll sit down and will try to explain it to her (to the best of my ability). I don't believe in the fact that parents (because they're parents) are always right. We have an opinion, which we should put in front of our kids... Before trying to impose something on them (if that's important). I know this TT is a little different, but its something I wanted to discuss. What do you think?

Toddling Tuesdays- Visiting Cubon Park

We wanted to take Z to explore some nice open space for a long long time. Since Bangalore isn't a city we know much about (from a Parent's perspective) we decided to do a little research.

Just FYI - Fizz has stayed in Bangalore for a couple of years in his Bachelor days.

We went through a post on Things to do with kids in Bangalore, and we zeroed down on Cubon Park (popularly known as Bal Bhavan). Z wasn't well on Saturday, so she wasn't in her true form when we started the drive.... but went back to her happy self by EOD. The park had a lot of things to do... Train ride, boat ride, kids rides, playground with slides, swings (which are totally worn out). It being a Sunday, there was a large number of people in the park (more than the park could 'pleasantly' accommodate). The grounds were nice where and we spent most of our time (whatever we spent there) walking on them.

There is a ground opposite Bal Bhavan which had horses and kids were riding on them. I wanted to click a picture with Z sitting on the horse... will tell you what happened in a bit.

During the Ride.... at a traffic signal.

Managed to give her 'Sleepy Smile' when Pa requested
Talking to 'Pa' on phone LOL
Stunned to see so many people around!
Amazed by kids (and grown ups) skating
Didn't want to come off the lap coz she wasn't well
Pep-Talk with Mumsu
That's when she saw the horse
That's what happened when she sat on the horse

Bye-Bye time

Toddling Tuesdays

Heyo all.... Happy Tuesday....
I have already mentioned about Z's obsession with books...
Besides books, Z has another obsession that's of Mobile phones (like mommy :-D).

The moment a mobile ad comes or even if she sees a glimpse of a cell phone on TV she keeps a hand on her ear and goes 'Heeeyo-Heeeeyo... Blah...blah...blah...' as if she's talking to someone.

We were in Spar on Saturday and there were lots of people as usual ... It being a weekend. Fizz and Z were browsing through some sections while I was picking up some stuff for Z... When I was through I couldn't locate them and called Fizz to check where he was. He couldn't hear the ring, but Z did... And she kept on saying 'Heeeyo-Heeeeyo-'Heeeyo-Heeeeyo..' Till Fizz realized and took the call.
Now when Z's around... Fizz sure can't make an excuse saying "Oh! You were calling? I didn't hear it..." :-)

Toddling Tuesday - Handling a Clingy Baby

The moment Z lays eyes on her Pa she clings on to him. She's obsessed with him and vice versa. Taking Z in his lap for hours is becoming a problem, as Z is a growing toddler Mash'Allah. Fizz does get exhausted on weekends especially. So in malls or places where we find a little open spot we play 1-2-3 weeee (yeah that's something I developed on such a weekend). This time I came up with an excellent idea... when Z doesn't want to step down Pa's lap, we make her stand on the floor... Both holding one of her hand. And we go 1-2-3 Weeeeee... At 'weeeee' we swing her in the air. Z has fallen in love with it. And I'm feeling super... I'm still the smart one (well in some cases at least).

Toddling Tuesday

This 'T-T' isn't much of an incident but it is a development that I'm very proud of. Z is a messy toddler which is expected, she loves throwing things around. Emptying the laundry basket, picking and throwing things, emptying her toy basket as soon as we clean-up. What sets Z apart now is she helps us clean-up. She has developed this habit (she doesn't do it every time though) of putting things back to where they belong and I'm loving this new development.

This doesn't mean I don't create mess....

Wild Karnataka – Experience

We were ecstatic when we got to know we were going to see  Wild Karnataka.  It was a long trip to Vega City mall, Bannerghetta Road, Benga...
